This is a Metro North Rail accessible trail in the Hudson Highlands State Park Preserve area. This 2.5-hour hike takes you by waterfalls and streams and along a Revolutionary War road used by the traitorous general Benedict Arnold. It’s a breezy, beginner-friendly loop. W'e’ll take it at a relaxed pace, so we can enjoy the scenery, stop for a few photo opps and lunch, and chop it up with our community. Bring a friend or two, sunscreen, snacks, and lots of good vibes.

See you on the trails!

Trail: Bear Mountain Loop Trail

Length: 3.8 miles

Elevation Gain: ~1150 ft

Type: Loop

Hike Time: 4 hours including 30 minutes for lunch

This loop links multiple trails up Bear Mountain, and gives us stunning views of the valley below. We’ll take this trail counter-clockwise, traveling a short distance around the Hessian lake to the trail head until we reach our first incline, which is a steep, rocky scramble. The trail eventually levels off into more gradual inclines up to the top of the mountain.
